Frequently asked questions
The most common questions about the consultation, the day of surgery and recovery.
General
Is a surgery date set at the consultation?
No. I do not set a date on the day of the consultation; I want you to read the written plan at home and decide without rushing. When you decide, our coordinator schedules the date.
Who performs the operations?
I perform all operations myself. Consultation, surgery and check-ups are with the same doctor; an anaesthesiologist and the theatre team are with me in surgery.
Consultation
How long is the first consultation, and is it charged?
It takes about 45 minutes and is charged; the fee is given on the phone when booking. A video pre-consultation lasts 20 minutes and is charged separately.
Does a video call replace the consultation?
No. On a video call I answer your questions and explain the process; diagnosis and a surgical decision require a face-to-face consultation.
What should I bring to the consultation?
A list of the medicines you take, any previous surgical reports and recent test results. I also suggest writing down your questions; you can use the question lists on the procedure pages.
Is filler permanent?
Hyaluronic acid fillers are not permanent; depending on the area they are absorbed within six to eighteen months. They can be dissolved if needed.
Surgery day
Where do operations take place?
At a fully equipped partner private hospital in Şişli, with an anaesthesiologist present. Non-surgical treatments are done at the practice.
Do I need to stop smoking before surgery?
Yes. Smoking impairs wound healing and tissue blood supply; I ask you to stop at least four weeks before and not to smoke during recovery.
Is packing used in nose surgery?
In most patients I use soft silicone splints that allow breathing instead of traditional packing; they are removed within the first week.
Recovery
How do I reach you after surgery?
During recovery you get a line to reach us directly with your questions. I do the check-ups myself; the first is usually within the first week after surgery.
When will I see the result?
It depends on the procedure: two weeks for fillers and botulinum toxin, three months for eyelids, six months for a facelift and about a year for rhinoplasty. Results vary from person to person.
When can I wear glasses after rhinoplasty?
If the bones were adjusted, glasses should not rest on the nose for the first four to six weeks; I advise you at your check-up. Contact lenses can be used from the first days.
Will facelift scars be visible?
Incisions are placed in the natural lines in front of and behind the ear. Scars may be pink in the first months and fade over time; scar-care advice is given.
Can I breastfeed after breast surgery?
Breastfeeding is not affected by most augmentations; with reductions and lifts it can depend on the technique. We plan with this in mind at the consultation.
